Travels to Cyprus: Artists at the Paphos Theatre Excavation presents a collection of works by Australian artists who participated in the multi-year archaeological excavation of the Paphos Theatre. The exhibition explores the relationship between archaeology and artistic interpretation, capturing historical narratives through a variety of mediums.
The initiative is supported by the Australian High Commission in Cyprus as part of a cultural diplomacy program to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cyprus and Australia. The project also testifies to more than a century of migratory and cultural exchange between the two countries.
The exhibition serves as an artistic and archaeological bridge between Cyprus and Australia, reflecting a shared history, cultural exchanges and contemporary interpretations of the past.
