Super Onda is coming to Cyprus—a vibrant celebration of Brazilian and French-Caribbean music that promises an unforgettable cultural experience.

As part of the official France–Brazil Season 2025, this unique event will take place on Thursday, May 29, in the Municipality of Kourion.

Super Onda is a collaborative project between the Museu do Samba (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and the Samba Résille organization (Toulouse, France), with the support of the Municipality of Kourion and the Kourion 2030 initiative. This series of events celebrates the blending of Creole musical traditions and honors the power of women in cultural creation.

The Cypriot edition of Super Onda features the renowned Matriarcas do Samba. These artists are direct descendants of legendary samba figures and will share their rich musical heritage through “rodas de samba”—large, participatory gatherings where musicians play around a central table, inviting the audience to sing and dance in the true spirit of Brazilian festivity.

The evening also promises a series of surprises, including collaborations with musicians from Samba Résille, Brazilian pop artist Daniel Zé, and the percussion group Batukinio.

Guests will also have the chance to experience traditional Brazilian dances and rhythms, and enjoy authentic Brazilian street food prepared by the Super Onda team.

This event is part of a wider series of Super Onda activities taking place in Cyprus from May 25 to May 29, which also includes two participatory events: one in Limassol (Sunday, May 25, as part of the “Musical Footprints” intercultural festival at Anagennisi Square) and one in Paphos (Tuesday, May 27), aiming to strengthen cultural exchange between Cyprus and France.

The project emphasizes co-creation with local partners—including music schools, community networks, and cultural organizations—to ensure an inclusive and engaging experience for all.

Super Onda: Яркий праздник бразильской музыки на Кипре

На Кипр приезжает Super Onda — живой праздник бразильской и франко-карибской музыки, обещающий незабываемый культурный опыт.

Это уникальное событие проходит в рамках официального Сезона Франции и Бразилии 2025 и состоится в четверг, 29 мая, в муниципалитете Курион.

Super Onda — это совместный проект Museu do Samba (Рио-де-Жанейро, Бразилия) и организации Samba Résille (Тулуза, Франция), при поддержке муниципалитета Курион и инициативы Курион 2030. Цикл мероприятий прославляет слияние креольских музыкальных традиций и отдает дань силе женщин в культурном творчестве.

В кипрской части проекта участвуют знаменитые Matriarcas do Samba.
